Okay, I had already given up on the Anita series, but I stuck it out with this series because I really liked the last book. I'm now done. Unless it falls off a truck in front of me and I have nothing else to read and I'm tied to a bed and - I think you get the picture. I actually returned this one t

If you are looking at these reviews, you are probably thinking one thing: Does it really work? If you own the "Vinturi Essential Wine Aerator" you are also thinking one thing: Yes it does.

Seriously, this thing is awesome. Like most folks, I was skeptical until I tried it. All the go

I purchased this camcorder for a vacation I just returned from. This is a GREAT camcorder. The learning curve is quick, very simple to use. Two options of recording video, either on a memory card, or via mini-DVD. The option of being able to pop out the mini-dvd and putting it into any DVD playe

"Rest In The Arms Of The Dragon" ~ The Arthurian Vision Realized
4/3/2006
Director John Boorman's '81 film, 'Excalibur' is a cinematic masterpiece and the definitive treatment of the Arthurian legend. The cinematography is magnificent and would be hard to top even by todays standards, the music fabulous, especially the darker pieces and the costumes will make you believe you've really traveled back in time.

The cast is also excellent; Nigel Terry as King Arthur, Nicolas Clay as Lancelot and Helen Miren as Morgana are but a few of this wonderfully talented cast. The highlight of this film however is Nicol Williamson who is absolutely perfect as the fabled wizard and necromancer Merlin. Playing the role with a bequiling mixture of dark humor and heavy portent, every word, every phrase that falls from his lips is pregnant with meaning and multi-layered context. Listen very carefully whenever he speaks and if you're astute in the magical arts or studied in occult terminology you will atune to the rather odd wording or phrasing in some of his comments. Such as "I am the Merlin" instead of "I am Merlin." It's obvious a great deal of care went into developing not only the Merlin persona, but the correct occult terminology for this film.

If you love films with towering castles, subterranean crystalized caverns, knights and fair maidens and a wizard or two this is the movie for you! Ahh.... yes, if you're also into the arcane arts keep a notebook and pen close at hand, you may need it!

Best Version
3/17/2006
This is by far the best version of the King Arthur tale that I've ever seen. Even with all of the advances with special effects nowadays, nothing has come close. (Although Monty Python's Holy Grail, is pretty good)

Great Movie!
2/23/2006
This movie is one of my favorites. If you love Science Fiction and Fantasy, you should love this movie. This movie did not have stars that were familiar to me, but they did an excellent job. Especially Nigel Terry as Merlin. Wonderful performance. It is the story of King Arthur with a few new twists that really grabbed my interest. This movie had everything. Action, adventure, drama, intrigue and romance. I just loved it!

A glorious mythic vision
2/10/2006
Previous reviewers have already detailed the dark beauty of this film superbly, so I'll simply add my own voice to theirs in this regard. What I would like to note is director John Boorman's grasp & understanding of the mythic vision, both intellectually & viscerally. His retelling of the Arthurian Mythos is steeped in Jungian thought & symbolism -- and deliberately so, as stated in his memoirs. Rather than spell everything out, he uses vivid images & semi-ornate language to make dazzling leaps, which he trusts the viewers to follow & understand, if only on a deep & unconscious level. Everything isn't explained in step-by-step, logical fashion, which would only make the film pedantic. Instead, he presents bold, vivid scenes, which bypass concious logic & speak directly to the psyche. Not everyone will respond to this approach, of course; and those looking for a more traditional or historically correct narrative are bound to be disappointed. But for those of a more Romantic nature, far more comfortable with the language of Symbol, this film will be a revelation. Most highly recommended!
